Collection: The Worm
WORM - It's Scary Now w Jil
Lyrics:
What am I doing
With you down in this dark hole?
It doesn't make sense

My heart has told me
That our futures are entwined
I don't understand

Things were going fine
Our work relationship was
Starting to click

Now the lights are out
We found an elevator
And we made it work

Instrumental section

What if life is over?
What if everything above is gone?
An asteroid might have hit

Will there be things to do?
Can we somehow feed ourselves?
Life would have to start fresh

We would miss the people
Even though they make us crazy
We’re all social animals

So we’ll have to see
Fingers crossed that it’s all okay
But it’s scary now

Release notes
[Thanks, Jil, for your beautiful vocal, and Çin for the great percussion]

The Worm is alive, but June and Joe must leave in a hurry. They know something big has taken place on the surface, and are riding up to see.

June is catching on that there's love in the air.

Jaunty and intriguing, despite the "scary now" lyric.. Such a nice listens.... and Jil's voice floating around and riffing is lovely treat, like when the radio's on next door and the neighbor's lovely voice is improvising on the melody while happily doing her gardening. . Well done. Really interesting milieu created here.

@sbs
Hypnotic, like I'm peeking into a little vignette from the neighbors in a "Rear Window" fashion. The duet is like out of a 30s film. Perfect voices together. Thanks for the show!

This is quietly groovy and quietly disquieting. I guess that's the nature of this whole enterprise--to unsettle us with the nicest possible music. Mission accomplished

Great instrumental mix (love the cajon and lead guitar and the beeping thing) and lovely vocals. Singing is very pure and perfect for the song.

I love the plan to write a musical. Interesting concept for the plot. Good luck!

@billwhite51
which one is singing? the protagonist or the scientist? i hope the elevator plays an essential role, as it is going to raise production costs. and the song? first, i dont think it belongs in a slow moving elevator. it is too lively. i would write eight more verses and have it be a group dance/ choral thing. a good way to introduce secondary characters, give each of them a verse.

@ttg105
Guitars sound great - all tangly and resonant. I also like the wah wah sound and the minimalist percussion.

@odilongreen
I like how the lyrics are so full of potential doom, but the music itself seems kind of "island upbeat" to me; it creates an interesting juxtaposition that makes the song even more tense and compelling. It's a very cool effect!

I like how the lyric sets the scene foreshadowing emotional loss. Will have to check out some of the other pieces.

I like this a lot! The guitar sounds great and The mood you create here, with the dark lyrics and the uplifting beat, is wonderful and interesting!

@nancycunning
Oh, my goodness. That guitar and dhembe are already so compelling. Like following down the long long mine shaft tunnel. Then the vocals jump in with this exuberance at getting to face the elements, like the Swiss Family Robinson. Optimism in the face of armageddon. Great work.

@fuzzy
I do so love your instrument choices and your exemplary playing.
They don't seem to concerned about the end of the world, though.
I like how you are sticking(ish) to the Haiku construction.
Yeah, this is excellent.
