Collection: The Worm
WORM - Physicists Can't Say
Lyrics:
Physicists can’t say
In relation to the Bang
What was here before

In the slice of time
near the barest beginning
They make some guesses

But before the start
“Sorry, Charlie, can’t get there.”
Such a mystery

Some now talk of strings
Multiple Universes
Sounds fishy to me

Now you and me we
Sorta know our origins
But they’re cloaked in doubt

Who was my grandpa
Underneath the family tales
A gem or a lout?

Who was your grandma
Did she do a lot of good
With a righteous soul?

We don’t really know
Maybe she lived in a cloud
If the truth be told

And what about you?
You look like a scientist
Are you right for me?

Are we an item?
Is this another mirage?
Can we really know?

This may require
That we give up certainty
Would that be a start?

So many questions
That don’t have any answers
Let’s go with our heart

Release notes
Joe and June have been talking about God, physics, family, trust, angels and demons.

Joe nearly admits that he's falling in love. Then they check and find that the first real communication has come in from the future.

They write this song together about beginnings, and are looking at each other differently.

I love your style and the way you sing. That vocal percussion made me smile all the way through. This is sweet and thought provoking. I just saw a billboard that said, "In the beginning, God created." That got me wondering what he was up to before that. There's probably a song there. (I love the guitar as you play us out)

@fuzzy
I always love the gentle weirdness of your songs.
You know, just last night I was thinking about how in two or three generations people probably won't even remember our names; we'll just be anonymous faces in old family photos, and these lyrics remind me of that.
Great guitar solo there.
And that bass line is perfect.
Yeah, love this a lot.

Beautiful mix of instruments ... love the bass/piano thing and the human beatbox and the grandma/grandpa lines. Nice acoustic guitar solo. The overall effect is of two people conversing in an entirely different reality.

@billwhite51
sounds more like you are addressing the mendacity of family histories and the truth behind human relationships rather than the subject promised in your title. i like the insistent repitition of the music and the space between the questions. If you strung them together into long lines, you would have something along the lines of a more philosophical "Little Green Apples."

@mahtowin
I really like that the piece lasts a really long time and I was able to enjoy the purely instrumental part for so long!
It's nice how you do the percussion with your voice!
Your delivery of the lyrics is calm and steady like the music.
Very nice last verse!
I really enjoyed listening!
