ST13 - Fiddleheads w Andre the Skunk
Lyrics:
My skunk friend Andre
Was walking in the forest
Minding his business

Frit the wonder dog
Trotted up to him and barked
A friendly greeting

“Good to see you too!”
Special communications
Were passed with a wink

Frit sat and listened
“I am working on a case.”
Andre said quietly

“Someone is eating
So many Fiddlehead Ferns
Very serious.”

A fox walked by them
Head turned aside, moving fast,
Looking suspicious

“Madame Fox, tell me,
Have you seen the Fiddleheads?”
Frit was in the shadow

“What’s a Fiddlehead?”
The fox said as she passed by
“Never heard of it.”

Frit’s furry head shook
His long tail thumped the ground
And he looked away

Andre released scent
The fox said “Okay, yes!
I know Fiddleheads.”

“But did you eat them?”
Said Andre the fragrant skunk
“Zat would not be good.”

“I did not eat them
Because I don’t enjoy them.”
The Fox said firmly.

Frit’s body was calm
The fox was not lying now
Frit senses untruth

“Maybe it’s the deer.
They are always hungry.”
The fox was named Joan

“I’ll stay here tonight
To help solve this mystery.”
Andre said “Zat’s good!”

The next day arrived
Joan said “It was two people.”
Frit sat listening

Andre spread a mist
With a very strong odor
Throughout the fern patch

“Sometimes detectives
Act to resolve the problems
In this funny world.”

Song:
The things humans do
Can be hard to understand
For an animal

The couple returned
The potent smell convinced them
To stop taking ferns
